- Abstract
Timely treatment of any maternal infection acquired antenatally or postnatally is essential and could help decrease the risk of ASD among infants. The relationship between maternal infection, prenatal antibiotics, and ASD in offspring is complex and needs further studies. Nitschke and colleagues[1] recently reported that prenatal antibiotic exposure was associated with an increase in the risk of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in offspring.
