- Abstract
The article reports on the rise of global sourcing, offshoring and outsourcing. The issue has widespread implications for domestic jobs, internal control and national security. The debate has moved from being about jobs to now encompassing national security. Financial Executives Research Foundation (FERF) has researched the topic. Payroll and information technology are the two most common businesses to be outsourced. The primary reasons for this practice are to reduce costs and eliminate non-core competencies. The risks of offshoring are addressed.
