- Abstract
description of the second species of the enigmatic deep-sea nematode genus Rhaptothyreus, and results of the re-examination of type material of R. typicus Hope & Murphy, 1969 are presented. Rhaptothyreus minor sp. n. from the northeast Atlantic is characterized by the small body length (3.15 versus 6.99-12.80 mm) and the presence of large turgescent cells filling the body cavity. Interstitial spaces between these cells contain masses of bacteria-like structures.
