- Abstract
The findings of this study revealed that honey bees and bumble bees had different EAG responses to tomato flower volatiles, and the two bee species showed different behavioral choices to the same compound. It has been widely known that bumble bees are effective bee pollinators of tomato as they are capable of buzz pollination to vibrate tomato anthers in order to release pollen grains, and only one visit is sufficient for full tomato pollination [[43]]. Bees play an important role in the pollination of tomatoes, yet the relationship between foraging choices and olfactory cues is unclear because of the difference in foraging behavior between honey bees and bumble bees on tomato flowers.
