- Abstract
The article looks at the use and role of the American suburb in contribution to the articulation of social anxieties through the horror subgenre films. Topics discussed include birth of birth of the suburban space in horror films such as "A Nightmare on Elm Street" and John Carpenter's Halloween, sexual avoidance or inactivity of the female protagonist in horror films, and use of locations such as kitchen and basements in the films.
