- Title
The Muhammad al-Dura Hoax and Other Myths Revived.
- Authors
Poller, Nidra
- Abstract
The article discusses the controversy around the alleged Israeli shooting of two Palestinians, Jamal and Muhammad al-Dura, caught on video in 2000, and the implications of Western countries covering news that is not validated. Topics include questions about authenticity of the video, the defense of the reliability of the video by journalist Charles Enderlin, and the international response to alleged Israeli cruelty. The Western media coverage of blood libel calling Israelis "child-killers", staged hoaxes in the Middle East, and the Arab Spring Uprisings of 2011 are discussed. It is suggested that the Western media has influenced the discourse about Middle Eastern threats and that the Islamic jihad movement is more of a threat than Israeli violence.
