- Abstract
The article discusses the persecution of gays in Iran, focusing on the experience of gay Iranian student Mehdi Kazemi. The execution of over 4,000 gays in Iran since 1979, including Kazemi's boyfriend, is mentioned. Kazemi's initial denial of asylum within Great Britain and the Netherlands is mentioned, noting that he was granted asylum in Great Britain following public anger over Kazemi's situation.
