- Abstract
Coccinellids play an important role as predators in regulating pests in tomato ecosystem. The present study is focused on the biodiversity and abundance of coccinellids in rabi tomato under sprayed and unsprayed conditions during rabi 2018-19 and on the effect of dimethoate. Three species of coccinellids viz., Scymnus sp., Cheilomenes sp. and Illeis sp. were observed. The Margelef's index of diversity, Pielou's evenness index and Shannon-Wiener diversity index for these were 0.45, 0.89 and 0.98, respectively in sprayed block, while these were 0.39, 0.92 and 1.01, respectively in the unsprayed block. These revealed that the diversity parameters in the sprayed and unsprayed tomato blocks were on par with each other.
