Abstract
The article reports on the price reduction of basic commodities such as rice, salt, and fish in Cameroon from July 1, 2009 in an attempt of the government to placate the people over the high cost of living. It says that the government is avoiding the riots in February 2008 in protest of the high cost of living, which killed up to 1,000 people. It states that businesspeople would follow the order depending on the market condition.
