- Abstract
The present study examines the effects of contextual factors on the language production of adolescent learners in foreign language instruction. Various tasks and conditions were taken into account to assess the language proficiency of the learners. The results emphasize the importance of contextual factors in data collection and raise questions about the generalizability and comparability of learner texts. The SWIKO project aims to document and analyze the language acquisition of Swiss secondary school students in various areas of linguistic competence. Various tasks are being developed to cover the diversity of communication in the classroom and to examine the influence of task characteristics on learner texts. The study investigates the transfer of language skills among German as a Foreign Language (DaF) students in Switzerland. It is found that the students utilize their entire multilingual repertoire, with the French component being twice as high as the English component.
