- Authors
Fonseca, Maria José; Mealha, Óscar
- Abstract
This article presents a systematic literature review focused on the role of the school library in the Digital Age in educational ecosystems that include smartphone use, supported by scientific publications and consequent analytical reflection. Given the combination of keywords, the query time scope was between 2016 and 2020 in the Scopus platform, as well as in other significant scientific data bases. An initial search delivered 599 documents, refined considering the dimensions of the research question: library, smartphones and new media. Thirty documents were extracted, treated, analysed and included in this systematic review. Although these 30 documents did not contribute directly to the context of the research issue, they constitute strong arguments to support the need for the study underlying this review. The analysis of methodologies and conclusions related to the theme of school libraries in the context of infocommunication mediated by smartphones, reflects an incipient state that deserves to be taken into account and augment research in this scientific area.
