- Abstract
The article discusses prescription information and a patient's right to privacy as of June 2012, focusing on the impact of the U.S. Supreme Court's ruling in the 2011 case Sorrell v. IMS Health Inc. which deals with Vermont's statutory ban against the sale or disclosure of information regarding the prescribing habits of physicians. The legal implications the unlawful disclosure of a patient's prescription personal health information are addressed, including an evaluation of state data mining statutes.
