- Title
Physiological role of endogenous peptide effectors studied with peptidase inhibitors.
- Authors
Roques, Bernard P.
- Abstract
Discusses the use of molecules which interact selectively with different receptor types in the analysis of the physiological relevance of a given peptidergic pathway. Design of selective agonists or antagonists by taking into account the conformational properties of the native peptides; Detection of the interaction of enkephalins in the central nervous system with a high-affinity site; Identification of respiratory depression as one of the most prominent side effects that occurs after the systemic administration of opiates.
