- Abstract
This article provides an overview of treatment options for individuals who experience suboptimal initial response or weight regain after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). The prevalence of these outcomes increases over time and can reach up to 20% at 10 years. The treatment approach includes behavioral and nutritional interventions, as well as surgical and medical interventions if necessary. Medical management, particularly the use of glucagon-like peptide 1 (GLP-1) receptor agonists, has shown significant weight reductions and health improvements. Revisional metabolic bariatric surgery (MBS) is also an option but carries a higher complication rate. The article discusses various treatment options, including nutritional counseling, behavioral interventions, medical therapies, endoscopic interventions, and surgical interventions. It emphasizes the need for further research to evaluate the long-term efficacy and safety of these treatments. The document also includes a list of references covering a range of topics related to weight loss and weight regain after bariatric surgery.
