- Title
Hero and Outcast: César Tiempo and the History of Jews in Argentina.
- Authors
Rein, Raanan
- Abstract
The article examines the transition of Jewish Argentine author César Tiempo from a celebrity to an outcast of the local Jewish community in the 1930s. It attributes the decline in popularity of Tiempo to his decision to accept the editorship of the cultural supplement "La Prensa." Also noted is the acceptance of Peronism by Tiempo. It cites the implication of the focus of literature on Jews as members of Jewish institutions for the history of their involvement in non-Jewish politics.
