- Abstract
The article discusses a study to examine antibiotic prophylaxis in context with postoperative surgical site infections (SSIs) in patients undergoing clean head and neck operations, like uncontaminated thyroidectomy, parotidectomy, or submandibular gland excision. Topics discussed include effectiveness of cefazolin and clindamycin drugs, antimicrobial prophylaxis in patients requiring pectoralis major myocutaneous flap reconstruction, and duration of perioperative antibiotic prophylaxis.
