- Authors
Khan, Erum; Hasan, Rumina
- Abstract
The author reflects on the issue of spread of dengue infection in Asia. He mentions that epidemiology of dengue fever (DF) and dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is spreading rapidly as it is the most severe mosquito-borne viral disease. He further mentions the factors which are responsible for its expansion including, vector-host-virus triad, socioeconomic stresses, and climatic variations. He suggests that dengue virus transmission can be prevented by controlling the mosquito vectors. Further he states that dengue viruses are prone to genetic mutations as they can replicate by using Ribo-Nucleic Acid-Polymerase.
