- Abstract
The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court case Abbott v. Abbot, which investigated whether the ne exeat provisions create rights of custody under the Hague Convention on the civil aspects of international child abduction. It offers an overview of the Convention and considers the ruling of four federal circuit courts in U.S. family law disputes. Analyis shows the failure of the court, in its ruling in the case, to comply with the objects and purposes of the Convention.
