- Abstract
An essay is presented on the historical and social construction of the life and death of Marion Thompson Wright, a professor of education at Howard University in Washington, D.C. The emergence of a triumphalist narrative of Wright as a black civil rights scholar and activist in academic discourses is tackled. The important contributions of Wright to the fields of black education, social education, and guidance and counseling are also explored.
