- Abstract
The article focuses on primary sources and effects of corruption. Sources discussed include increase in public expenditures and proliferation of benefits, interactions between officials and private citizens and perception of paying bribes as a way to save time and enhance efficiency. It states that corruption undermines sustainable economic development, cuts off government revenue, limits productivity, damaging the country economically and socially and contributes to a mis-allocation of human resources.
