Backlash and Its Consequences.
- Authors
Miller, Mike
- Abstract
The author shares his experiences with Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) and the civil rights movement while providing some helpful cautions about the opportunities and risks facing the U.S. He mentions the power of SNCC to embed itself in poor black communities across the Deep South's Black Belt, earning the trust of local people, and slowly building a base for independent political action in the 1960s. The economic agenda that provides economic security for all is also tackled.
