Literacy in Today's Army.
Abstract
This article presents an interview with Seth Johnston, a captain in the U.S. Army, about the state of military education in the U.S. The interview begins with the recruiting practices of the Army. Johnston describes an academic program being offered by the U.S. Military Academy in West Point, New York. In addition, Johnston talks about a survey which found that young people serving in the Army are more literate than their civilian peers.
