- Abstract
The article presents a literary criticism of "Boi," Raphael Kahaso and Nathan Mbwele's Swahili's 1976 translation of the 1956 Francophone anti-colonial novel "Une vie de boy," by Ferdinand Oyono. The translation is also based on "Houseboy,"John Reed's 1966 English translation of Oyono's novel. The similarities and contrasts between the Swahili translation, Reed's English translation and the original novel are discussed.
