- Abstract
Mushroom-forming fungi ( I Agaricomycetes i ) are known to produce numerous bioactive and frequently cytotoxic secondary metabolites [[1]-[4]]. The fermented rice substrate was extracted with EtOAc by exhaustive maceration (3 × 10 L), and the organic solvent was evaporated to dryness under vacuum to afford the crude extract (300 g). In our research into discovering novel bioactive compounds from fungi, the ethyl acetate extract of I F. velutipes i fermented on rice was found to have strong cytotoxicity.
