- Abstract
We proposed a statistical approach to the account of the depletion of the substance comprising the metastable phase in the description of the kinetics of homogeneous nucleation of supersaturated vapor that provides (at the established constraints) representative estimates of the total number of the droplets of new phase formed at the nucleation stage and the duration of this stage. This approach is based on the statistical calculation of the mean distance from the originally emerged droplet to the neighboring new droplet and the mean expectation time of its emergence. The consideration is performed for the case of the diffusion regime of droplet growth under the assumption of instantaneous creation of the initial vapor supersaturation. The comparison of the predictions of statistical approach with the results obtained on the basis of the approximation of homogeneous metastable phase made it possible to refine the domain of the applicability of this approximation.
