- Abstract
Islamic finance experts and professionals have been making significant efforts to develop new financing methods that comply with the principles of Islamic Shari’ah law. One of the solutions proposed for achieving the objective of protecting wealth by investing and circulating it is the use of the option clause. This research seeks to demonstrate how Sharia supervisory bodies have benefitted from incorporating the option clause in the banking Murabaha formula. By doing so, they have more flexibility in interpreting the issues that arise in adopting relevant provisions. The study shows how Islamic banks can safeguard their funds by using the Murabaha formula. Given the nature of the research, an analytical approach was adopted to fragment the problem and study each component before linking them together, as opposed to other methodologies. The findings of the study suggest that the objectives of Sharia law play a critical role in the development of Islamic financial jurisprudence. The option clause is regarded as a highly effective strategy for preserving the bank’s funds while enabling the easy and cost-effective disposal of commodities. Therefore, Islamic banks should utilize the Murabaha formula in their banking operations, within the limits permitted for financing operations, to benefit from this treatment for preserving their funds while disposing of commodities efficiently and inexpensively.
