- Abstract
The survey conducted in seven districts of Karnataka during 2017 and 2018 revealed the presence of three natural enemies of spiralling whitefly of which included two predators, one parasitoid. All these natural enemies were found in all surveyed districts. The population of Cryptolaemus montrouzieri Mulsant and Encarcia spp. was highest in Bidar district during both years (2017- 2.85 and 2.48, 2018- 3.27 and 3.08, respectively). The population of C. montrouzieri and Encarcia spp. was prominent in upper and middle canopy levels during 2017 and 2018, respectively. Bengaluru district recorded Crysoperla zastrowi sillemi Esben-Peterson (1.57) during 2017. Whereas, in 2018 their population was observed more in Dharwad (2.18). Cryptolaemus montrouzieri population was highest in 5 m x 2 m (2.62) and 5 m x 4 m (3.07) spacings and seen in upper and middle canopy levels during 2017 and 2018, respectively. Upper and middle canopy levels recorded more C. zastrowi sillemi population in 5 m x 2 m (1.57) and 2 m x 2 m (2.02) spacing during 2017 and 2018, respectively. The high-density planting of 3 m x 3 m (2.20) and 5 m x 4 m (2.23) recorded more population of Encarcia spp. in middle canopy levels during 2017 and 2018.
