- Authors
Hopkinson, N.
- Abstract
The article reports on the role of Rhea, who in the Greek mythology is considered as the great mother of the Olympian gods and goddesses. It is mentioned that she is also a goddess of fertility, motherhood and the mountain wilds, in the poetic creation "Hymn to Zeus" by Callimachus. It discusses the birth of Zeus, the supreme ruler of Mount Olympus and the Pantheon of gods, who is a celestial god worshipped as a weather god by the Greek tribes in the Greek mythology. In the poem, the poet briefly describes the god's birth to Rhea and the goddess' dilemma.
