- Abstract
This article discusses a trend toward consolidation and merger within the U.S. water-supply industry, led by GE Water & Process Technologies' acquisition of Canada-based membrane manufacturer ZENON Environmental Inc. for $650 million. The deal marks a strategic GE Water shift toward the municipal market and expands GE's water desalination and purification business. The purchase of ultraviolet radiation treatment firm Aquafine Corp. complements acquirer Danaher Corp.'s Trojan Technologies Inc. unit.
