- Abstract
The article discusses a study which investigated the effect of breastfeeding in healthy boys and girls on their trajectories of percent body fat (BF) and body mass index standard deviation scores (BMI-SDS) throughout childhood. It hypothesized that the breastfeeding effect could be modified by the presence of maternal overweight and/or the offspring's sex. Findings suggest that breastfeeding could offset a potential programming effect for childhood adiposity among boys with overweight mother.
