- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of collaboration among bioethicists and social scientists in achieving more informed public deliberation on health policies. He cites a December 2009 meeting at The Hastings Center which was attended by bioethics and social scientists. The meeting highlighted the reasons why collaborations between the two groups are rare including institutional barriers, the naturalistic fallacy, the conflict between universal values, and the difficulty of encouraging interdisciplinary scholarship.
