Growth Hormone Helps Prevent Lean Mass Loss after Bariatric Surgery.
- Abstract
The article reports on the findings made by Silvia Savastano and her team at the University of Naples regarding the impact of human growth hormone (hGH) treatment in reducing lean body mass (LBM) loss in 2009 in Florida. The team has conducted hGH treatment to 24 women for six months after they had undergone gastric banding. The team also conducted diet and exercise program to 12 patients, wherein hGH patients showed higher loss of LBM than patients who received diet and exercise.
