- Authors
Chung, Kevin K.; Salinas, Jose; Renz, Evan M.
- Abstract
The article focuses on fluid resuscitation, which is the initial management for severe burn casualties to prevent multiple organ failure and burn shock. It says that the Rule of 10 calculates the initial rate of resuscitation fluid by multiplying 10 with the estimated burn size. Furthermore, the clinical practice guidelines on burn resuscitation, developed by the U.S. Army Institute of Surgical Research (ISR), are discussed.
