- Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the impacts generated by the training courses organized by the Federal University of Santa Maria (UFSM) regarding the labor activity of its technical and administrative staff from the campus situated in Frederico Westphalen-RS. In this sense, the objectives were: to identify the training courses offered by the university, to check the main features of the training process, and also to verify the perception of the technical and administrative staff in relation to the applicability and the usefulness of these courses. With respect to the methodological aspects, this research is a case study, characterized as exploratory and descriptive, with both qualitative and quantitative approach and the data was mainly obtained through the application of questionnaires. The results show that the training courses promoted by UFSM and offered to its technical and administrative staff who work at the campus of Frederico Westphalen are ineffective in relation to the labor activities performed by these employees, especially referring to improvements in the efficiency of executing administrative tasks, in addition to the fact that the knowledge obtained is not very useful in the work activities. It is also noteworthy, that although the university has a structured training process, which is mainly based on the survey of the training needs of the staff (LNC), other factors may impact the offering of training courses, such as the availability of instructors, the distance between the decentralized university units and headquarters, the variety of sectors and positions that require training, as well as the limitation of budgetary resources. Thus, it was identified some aspects of the training courses organized by UFSM that can be improved, such as, the integration training and the promotion of more specific courses, so that the information provided by them can have an effective and positive impact on the work activities of the technical and administrative staff participants.
