- Abstract
Prostate-specific membrane antigen positron emission tomography (PSMA PET)/CT is a valuable tool for prostate cancer staging. However, the CT component of PET/CT lacks detailed soft tissue delineation compared to MRI, which can affect accurate localization of prostatic lesions. Image fusion, which combines PSMA PET/CT and MRI images, can enhance prostate target lesion visualization and improve biopsy and surgical planning. This fusion can be achieved through software with semi-automated methods, providing a feasible alternative to hybrid PET/MRI scanners. Image fusion has the potential to improve diagnosis and surgical outcomes in prostate cancer patients.
