The article discusses various reports published within the issue, including one by Aamir R. Mufti on the linguistic definition of the Hindi and Urdu languages in the earlier nineteenth century in northern South Asia, another by Rashmi Dube Bhatnagar on the nineteenth century formation of the Hindi-Urdu language, and one by Mehr Afshan Farooqi on the near-contemporary language studies from the cultural location of the Hindi-Urdu language.
