- Abstract
The article reports on the announcement of the labor government of Australian Prime Minister Julia Gillard that it will impose penalties against shipping companies which would be caught contaminating the marine environment of the country. Transport Minister Anthony Albanese states that Australia demand to enforce penalties so that the marine environment would be protected. It states that the government will increase the fines and organize a new offence recognized as "negligent navigation."
