- Abstract
This article focuses on the study of one of the most important collections of arms from the early modern era in the territories of the Spanish monarchy: the armoury of the Dukes of the Infantado in Guadalajara. This represents one of the most notable episodes in the history of Spanish collections, and despite being famous within its geographical and chronological milieux, it is still barely known in detail today. A complete presentation and analysis of existing data on the armoury is provided here, including its formation, content, evolution and dispersal, as well as the interpretation of its socio-cultural functions.
