- Title
Teaching Students to Write for the World Wide Web.
- Authors
Mabrito, Mark
- Abstract
This article looks at a teaching program designed to help college business students learn how to write documents for the World Wide Web as part of their business communication education. Most business students lack experience with Hypertext Markup Language and audience/design considerations in creating Web documents. The assignment discussed asks students to transform a recent report into a Web document using Softquad's editing computer software HotMetal Pro. By learning to use a Hypertext Markup Language editor, students achieve a greater understanding of Web page construction and are able to create more sophisticated projects. The author notes that the editing software eases the burden of learning new technology, allowing students more time to focus on writing and design issues.
