- Title
Learning Business Etiquette at Dinner.
- Authors
McPherson, William
- Abstract
This article discusses a course at Indiana University of Pennsylvania which provides students with guidelines for planning a dinner in the interest of helping students practice business etiquette. To conduct an activity of this type, the author recommends coordinating a meeting room and food services for a meal one semester in advance. Students should be aware that, as a formal meal, they will be required to use both napkins as well as appropriate utensils and glassware. The syllabus should include the dinner activities and clarify its role in attendance and grading policies. The dress code should require students to dress as if they were going on an interview. The author recommends seating a faculty member or speaker at each table.
