- Abstract
This article, published in the journal Molecular Oral Microbiology, focuses on the regulation of metabolism and inflammation in the host response. The authors present original research using mouse models and human cells to investigate various pathways of host regulation. The findings include the manipulation of liver X receptors (LXRs) to modify periodontal bone loss, the role of lipid metabolism in epithelial cells, the importance of connective tissues in wound healing, the impact of the signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 (Stat3) on bone healing in an inflammatory environment, and the regulation of bone turnover by IL-34 in periodontitis. The article highlights the potential for these findings to inform solutions for oral health challenges.
