- Abstract
The article discusses the response of the pagan elite of Rome to the laws that restricted the traditional practices of Christians. Topics covered include the details of inscription regarding Rome's ancient priesthood called Salians and the efforts of Roman emperors to restore the ancient buildings and continue practicing ancestral rites. Also mentioned are the laws featured in the 16th book of the Theodosian Code that was released in Rome.
