Abstract
The article discusses the application of psychoanalytic theory in art. It notes the representation of efforts to raise the significance of sexuality in psychoanalytic thought in the writings of Jean Laplanche. It also mentions the association of British psychoanalyst Melanie Klein with movement against drive theory in psychoanalysis. Moreover, it cites the potential of narcissism to be overcome and replaced by genital sexuality.
