- Abstract
A literary criticism of the book "Gould's Book of Fish," by Richard Flanagan is presented. Topics include the social conditions of the Tasmanian Aboriginal people who were referred to as savages and treated as slaves, the brutality and destructiveness against British convicts, and the role of Flanagan in the development of narrative in contemporary fiction in Australia. Also mentioned is the definition of literature by authors Lois Zamora and Wendy Faris.
