- Abstract
The author presents a literature review of articles concerning the archaeology of the Kawachi Plain in Osaka Japan for the Middle Kofun period to around the early sixth century AD. He states that Natu University published a 600-page report concerning a three-year project that reviewed existing knowledge of large tumuli, primarily the Mozu and Furuichi tomb groups of Kawachi. He comments about a exhibition catalogue that focuses on the second largest keyhole tomb found in Japan which is believed to be the tomb of the legendary Japanese Emperor Ojin. He talks about satellite mounds found near larger mounds often shaped like keyholes and which are believed to be dependent on the larger mounds.
