- Title
"I Now Have Hope": Participatory Democracy and Adult Education in Marginalized Communities.
- Authors
Griswold, Wendy
- Abstract
The vision determined by the community was a park; they simply wanted their park back. As a community educator for 25 + years, I have become an advocate for participatory democracy, which is "concerned with ensuring that citizens are afforded an opportunity to directly participate, or otherwise be involved in the decisions that affect their lives" ([3], para 1). "Democracy is nurtured at many levels, globally, nationally, but also, and perhaps most crucially, in communities, in neighborhoods, and between individuals.".
