- Abstract
The article evaluates hydrocortisone (HC) treatment in girls with congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH) and its association with serum dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS) and growth hormone (GH)-insulin-like growth factor (IGF)-I system. A total of 17 pre pubertal and 32 pubertal girls with CAH under HC replacement therapy were included in the study. It concluded that low levels of serum DHEAS is possibly involved in regulating IGF-I biological response in target tissues though further studies are necessary to confirm these.
