- Abstract
The old ball games have been held in two specific areas of the Spanish State and their situation is changing because the challenges of globalization. This article deals with the direct games played in areas of the Basque Country, Navarre and Valencia, games with great similarities, both contextualization and in its logic game. Qualitative research has led to the visit of practice settings, the observation of the games, in-depth interviews and the collection of different documents. The objectives were to compare both games areas and elucidate the strategies to adapt practices to current needs. In both cases, the results show a conversion process in sport, which involves some standardization.
