- Abstract
The article presents information on a study which examined the prevalence of Bartonella, hemoplasma, and Rickettsia felis infections in domestic cats and in cat fleas in Ontario. It explains the sequence of oligonucleotide primers used for polymerase chain reaction (PCR) assays. It discusses the results of the comparison of the sensitivity of blood culture and PCR for Bartonella detection. The study reveals the results of specific PCR and direct culture of blood in chocolate agar for the detection of Rartonella species in pet cats.
