This editorial questions whether or not the number of undergraduate athletic trainer accreditation programs in the U.S. is justified by the availability of employment in that field. The author proposes reforming accreditation programs for athletic trainers with a graduate level curriculum. The challenges that this proposal would pose for athletic training instructors who teach at the undergraduate level are discussed.
